Strengthen Your Credit Score

The best advice for strengthening your credit score is to manage it responsibly over time. Making credit card payments on time, paying off high interest or large debts, and making sure to not miss any payments are key. Things that affect credit score are debt, unpaid bills, unemployment, and missed payments. If your credit score needs to be strengthened, be prepared to start a year or two in advance of looking for a home. Once your score is at a good place, this is what will help you get loans from lenders and looks good for any future loans you might apply for.

Find The Right Mortgage

Not every lender offers the same mortgage rate so you should compare at LEAST three different lenders and see the different rates. Ask questions and read the fine print. Find out about any requirements or fees and ask what they can do for you. Some lenders offer perks for those that have completed a Homebuyer Education Class.

Research Your Realtor

Choosing a realtor should be done with as much care as when choosing a mortgage. A real estate agent will be working closely with you to find your dream home. You will want to be working with someone you like and trust. Talk with past clients. Check to make sure they have the right credentials. Find out if they are knowledgeable about the area you are looking in, and most of all, meet them and make sure you can work with them. Not sure who to go with? We have in-house realtors through RealtyWorks!

Location, Location, Location

Location is always important when it comes to finding the perfect house for you and your family. You should do a little research about the town and neighborhoods you like. That way you’ll have some idea of the prices in that area. The neighborhood and the environment you live in is key to happy living.

Selecting the right real estate agent does pay off and is important. They’ll help you find the right house and help negotiate prices with the seller.  Just remember that the seller does want to sell the house just like you want to buy it.

Finding the right home for your family takes a lot of work but it will be worth it when you find the right one. By following these tips the process of finding and buying the right home will be a little easier.
